As you are aware, an outbreak of wildfires has devastated Maui, Hawaii over the last week fueled by a combination of strong winds and drought conditions on the island. This tragedy has led to over 100 confirmed fatalities and more than 2,000 structures damaged or destroyed in what is now considered the largest natural disaster in the state’s history and deadliest in modern U.S. history. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who have been impacted.
Hawaii holds special significance for World Financial Group as we have nearly 500 licensed agents in the state and visit the islands annually as part of our Hawaii trip that thousands have been a part of.
With that in mind, we are calling upon our WFG community to do what they do best: help families and individuals. We are pleased to announce that the WFG Foundation will be matching all agent donations to the American Red Cross for wildfire relief, up to $250,000, made by September 18, 2023. Please follow the steps below to contribute:
- Make your donation to the Red Cross and select “Hawaii Wildfires” under the “I Want to Support” dropdown.
- Email your receipt to crystalm.ridling@transamerica.com with “Hawaii Wildfire Relief” in the subject line.
- Email your receipts by no later than September 29 so we can match your contribution.
In addition to matching these funds, our parent organizations have also made a $100,000 donation to the American Red Cross to support these disaster relief efforts through the Aegon Transamerica Foundation. These combined efforts will directly support the Red Cross’s mission to provide valuable medical care, food and shelter to impacted families as they work to recover and rebuild.
